Ecuador: in Guayaquil, plant lice devour old trees

In Guayaquil, one of the most violent cities in Latin America, where the few parks are precious oases, the withered trees have lost their leaves and are looking gray. The fault lies with the cochineal – also called plant lice -, a voracious insect which devours endemic species.
