With a new DNU, President Javier Milei gave the Chief of Staff, Nicolás Posse, the ccontrol of public media. The measure was established with a modification of the Ministries Law through the Decree of Necessity and Urgency 110/2024, published this Friday in the Official Gazette.
In the norm, was incorporated as a power of the Chief of Staff “to manage and control the media that are under the responsibility of the National Executive Branch and those companies in the sector in which the jurisdiction is a shareholder”, as well as “understand the guidelines of the policies regarding National Public Media and their implementation.”
Additionally, Posse was tasked with «intervene in the definition of the communication strategy and content carried out by direct communication channels and platforms of the National State with citizens.
When justifying the DNU, Milei pointed out in the text that the objective is “to achieve more efficient management,” Therefore, “it is necessary to reorganize the tasks” in charge of the coordinating minister and “modify the powers” of the area.
