The sun was relatively shy in January in southern Quebec. In fact, greater Montreal recorded 25% fewer hours of sunshine than normal during the month. On average, there are eleven beautiful days with at least six hours of sunshine, but there have only been six. In addition to experiencing the darkest time of the year in terms of day length, the sky was very overcast. In winter in Quebec, when clouds are dominant, temperatures are generally mild and this was the case in January.

Starting this weekend, southern Quebec will benefit from clearer skies. The sun should not shine brightly for 10 hours a day, but clouds would be less present during a sequence that might last a week. In terms of temperatures, however, you should not expect spring-like conditions. The next few days will take place with the mercury below freezing.

However, Saturday might be cloudy due to the presence of low clouds in the St. Lawrence Valley. The south of the province will benefit from a nice calm during the following days. Indeed, the atmospheric context would be unfavorable for the passage of low pressure systems.
