The statement from the Banking Association once morest the Omnibus Law: “It contains entirely negative aspects”
The Banking Association, headed by national deputy Sergio Palazzo, issued a statement in which it rejected the privatization of public companies and, in particular, the possible sales of Banco Nación; the Investment and Foreign Trade Bank (BICE) and the Mintas proposed in the draft Omnibus Law that will begin to be debated today.
“Tomorrow, January 31, the treatment of the ‘Omnibus Law’ begins, which contains entirely negative aspects for Argentine society, including the privatization package of 41 State companies,” the union entity said in a document.
And he added: “The Banking Association has made its position clear: strongly oppose all privatizations and in particular to that of Banco Nación and its related companies (Nación Servicios, Nación Reaseguros, Nación Seguro de Retiro, Nación Bursátil, Pellegrini SA), as well as the privatization of the Bank of Investment and Foreign Trade (BICE) and the Mint”.
In that sense, the union organization recalled that both Palazzo and Carlos Cisneros – the two legislators who come from the AB – “have held conversations with all the blocks, requesting their support” with this position “having obtained, in many cases, personal commitments and in another of the blocks”.
Likewise, it was recorded that with the objective of adding support for this position, both deputies met with the governors Axel Kiciloff (Buenos Aires), Martín Llaryora (Córdoba) and Gildo Infrán (Formosa), who listened and understood their arguments, as well as also with the president of the UCR, Martín Lousteau, and members of the legislative bloc of We Make the Federal Coalition, headed by deputy Miguel Pichetto.
“It is essential that there be a strong majority that demonstrates once morest the privatization of public companies and in our case, as banks, of the public banks that they intend to privatize,” stated the text released by AB.
And he concluded with a clear message once morest President Javier Milei: “We hope that the law that allows superpowers to be granted to someone who is already demonstrating that is capable of anything exercising the highest authority of the Nation, always once morest the interests of our people.”
