HARD. The successful European Handball Championship for Austria’s national team has major consequences for goalkeeper talent Constantin Möstl. The 23-year-old Viennese is leaving HC Hard following just one season and moving to TBV Lemgo Lippe in the German Bundesliga at the start of the 2024/25 season.
Möstl was the red-white-red hero at the European Championships in Germany and was even the best in the title fights with 81 saves. He was even selected for the All-Star team. After the dissolution of West Vienna, Möstl only moved to Lake Constance last summer. “It was unbelievable how I was welcomed here. I really feel extremely comfortable in Hard and in the club – with all the players, supervisors and officials. I don’t regret the move to Hard at all,” he said, according to a club release.
Austria’s top goalkeeper in all seven European Championship games became a real shooting star. Möstl was named Player of the Match a total of four times. This meant that the goalkeeper was “unstoppable” for HC Hard.
“From summer onwards I’ll be playing in the German Bundesliga and I’ll be able to take the next step in my career. I’m really looking forward to this new challenge and at the same time I’d like to thank the club in Hard and, above all, Hard’s sporting director Thomas Huemer supported and always strived for good cooperation with regard to the transfer,” Möstl was quoted as saying.
“Consti is an outstanding athlete and a great guy who makes the spectators and fans cheer,” said Huemer. The club congratulated Lemgo on his commitment. “Nevertheless, we still have some common goals ahead of us in the current season that we are very excited regarding.” Next Sunday, HC Linz AG will be playing at the HLA in Hard.
