MUNICH (AP) — Bayern Munich has opened negotiations to advance the arrival of Spanish winger Bryan Zaragoza due to a wave of injuries that has diminished the squad, the club reported Tuesday.
The German champions announced the signing of Zaragoza for next season from Spanish club Granada, but attackers Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman have since suffered injuries.
“He will be a Bayern player in the summer,” said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund. “We are in negotiations to see if he arrives in Munich ahead of schedule. There are always three parties involved. We will see what happens in the coming days.”
Freund spoke during the presentation of right back Sacha Boey, who arrived from Turkish Galatasaray for around 35 million euros ($38 million). The acquisition of Boey reinforces coach Thomas Tuchel’s defensive block, weakened by injuries and international call-ups.
Zaragoza, 22, has scored six goals in 21 games for Granada in the Spanish League this season.
