You will soon need to have a PIN to use Messenger

Maybe you’ve already encountered this update, but since January 1, some Messenger users are forced to use a PIN if they want to open the app. Eventually, all users will be required to create their code to connect to Facebook’s messaging service. A major change in the application therefore, which will force you to review your habits. But why this update?

Gigantic data leak, 100 million passwords published online: here’s how to know if you are affected

Meta, the parent company of Facebook, had already announced on December 6 in an official press release “the deployment of end-to-end encryption by default for its instant messaging”. The aim of this approach is to guarantee the confidentiality and security of conversations between users of Messenger and the group’s other messaging applications. Simply put, this means that messages and calls will be protected “from the moment they leave your device to the moment they reach the receiver’s device.” This therefore means that it is impossible to access the conversations in question if we do not have in our hands the devices from which the users are communicating.

A change that is intended to be positive, so don’t be surprised if you soon have to create your PIN code. This is completely normal !
