The 1st President of the Austrian-Israeli Society (ÖIG), Peter Florianschütz on allegations once morest UNRWA:
Vienna (OTS) – After the worrying reports that UNRWA employees were said to have been actively involved in the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel, the 1st President of the Austrian-Israeli Society (ÖIG), Peter Florianschütz, explains:
We at the ÖIG are deeply disturbed by the reports that employees of the UN Refugee Agency for Palestine were actively involved in the murderous acts of Hamas on October 7th in Israel. The company is calling for a thorough United Nations investigation into the allegations. It cannot be the case that the international community, as has been proven several times in the past, tries to sweep under the carpet the entanglements between the UN refugee agency and the Hamas terrorists.
The Austrian-Israeli Society hopes that the United Nations will finally draw conclusions: Not only the Commissioner General of UNRWA must live up to his responsibilities here, this also applies to the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres. Mere lip service is not enough.
Until the allegations are clarified, many countries have already reacted and put funding for the aid organization for Palestinians on hold. In this way, countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain and Italy have sent the right signal. The Austrian-Israeli Society calls on the Austrian federal government to follow the example of these governments and stop funds from the federal budget until the UN has fundamentally reformed its refugee commission for Palestinians. The financing of terrorists with Western tax money must finally be stopped!
