JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Singer Judika Sihotang spoke out following musician Ahmad Dhani praised her compliance in paying royalties when singing the song by the Dewa 19 frontman.
Ahmad Dhani also shared a screenshot of evidence of his conversation with Judika who performed two of Ahmad Dhani’s songs at an event.
Judika admitted that she actually rarely performs Ahmad Dhani’s songs.
However, because there was a request to sing songs created by Ahmad Dhani, he asked the event organizers to pay royalties.
“Actually, I rarely perform Pakde’s (Ahmad Dhani) songs because I’m having problems, but only yesterday it was Garuda’s birthday,” said Judika in the Rawamangun area, East Jakarta, Sunday (28/1/2024).
“They asked for it from Garuda, then I said ‘Garuda has to pay’, because Mas Dhani made rules like this. Yes, they have paid. Yes, I’ve sung. “That’s all, actually,” continued Judika.
Duma Riris’ husband said that as a musician and songwriter he supports Ahmad Dhani who is fighting for musicians’ royalty rights.
“Yes, what is clear is that I am a musician, I am also a songwriter, so we definitely support everything that is best,” said Judika.
Judika also hopes that there will be clear regulations through law regarding music royalties and direct licensing of musicians.

So that there are no more musicians summoning each other because they sing their songs.
That way, musicians can work together and have freedom in their work.
“I really want everything to be done according to the rules so that everyone isn’t confused regarding what the rules are. “Even if it’s a direct license, make clear rules so that musicians don’t call each other out, that’s not good,” said Judika.

“Musicians should be united. That’s how the rules are made, agreed upon, fought for. Well, that’s what I complied with. “So there are special regulations by law,” said Judika.

“Obey the Law,” wrote Dhani briefly as a description of the photo he uploaded to the @ahmaddhaniofficial account.
It can be seen in the upload that the party who invited Judika paid IDR 15 million for the two Dewa 19 songs that Judika sang at their event.
