After some twists and turns, Microsoft finally successfully completed the acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Soon following, it recently announced layoffs for the game department, affecting regarding 8% of employees.
Microsoft recently issued an internal memo stating that following the Activision, Blizzard and King teams joined Microsoft, it believed that it needed to streamline and reorganize overlapping structures to reduce unnecessary expenses and focus on core business growth. Under the layoff plan, the game department includes 1,900 people from former Activision Blizzard employees and Xbox teams will be affected.

Mike Ybarra, the former president of Activision Blizzard, has already announced that he will leave his post following the acquisition transition is completed.
