The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine, Kirill Budanov, expressed confidence that the country will be able to conduct a new exchange of prisoners of war with Russia in the near future. He stated this on air on a Ukrainian TV channel.

“I am sure that in the near future the exchange (of prisoners of war – URA.RU note) will still take place,” Budanov said, as quoted by Strana. The publication recalled that it is the Main Intelligence Directorate that is engaged in conducting negotiations on the exchange of prisoners.

The last exchange was scheduled for January 24, but due to an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, the event was disrupted. Il-76, which transported prisoners of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, was shot down from the territory of Ukraine, reports TV channel 360. There were 65 captured Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers on the plane. The Ukrainian Main Intelligence Directorate knew who was on board, noted Russian President Vladimir Putin.
