Dr. Nevin Al-Kilani, Minister of Culture, commented on the acquisition of other Arab nationalities by some Egyptian art icons and public figures, the latest of which was the artist Mohamed Henedy’s announcement of his acquisition of Saudi citizenship.
She said during a phone call to the “Hazrat Al-Muwatin” program, presented by journalist Sayed Ali on “Al-Hadath Al-Youm” satellite channel, on Saturday evening, that “the sisterly Arab countries always consider Egypt their second country.”
She pointed out that “Egypt opens its doors all the time to all people, and contains all the nationalities of the world, especially the sisterly Arab countries,” saying that many Egyptians hold other nationalities.
She added: “Throughout their lives, Egyptians acquire other nationalities from all countries in the world. This does not prevent them from belonging to their country and to their patriotism. There is no doubt regarding this matter.”
She continued: “There are many Egyptians who hold different nationalities from all over the world, and Egypt is their second country for the sisterly Arab countries, and millions of Egyptians reside, work and live in the Arab countries… so there is no problem with the matter at all.”
Last Thursday, the artist Mohamed Henedy announced that he had obtained Saudi citizenship, stressing that he was honored to obtain the passport of the country of the Two Holy Mosques.
Henedy wrote, in a blog post on his official page on the “X” platform: “Praise be to God, our Lord has honored me and I have been honored a lot in my artistic career.. but the greatest honor is that I was honored and obtained the citizenship and passport of the country of the Two Holy Mosques.. Thank you, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince for this honor and honor. For my person and my artistic career…thank you to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.”
