Former Austrian Bundesliga coach Nenad Bjelica caused a real scandal on Wednesday evening. The current coach of Union Berlin became physical during the Bundesliga game once morest Bayern Munich.
When the ball went over the line for the Croatian in the 74th minute, Sane came to take the throw-in. But Bjelica apparently wanted to play for time and grabbed the ball. The Bayern star didn’t like that. Sane ripped the ball out of Bjelica’s hand, whereupon the Union coach grabbed his face twice. The referee immediately pulled out the red card. Bjelica was furious following Union Berlin had previously been denied a penalty.
The Croatian was remorseful following the game. “What I did cannot be tolerated, I just have to apologize to my team,” said Bjelica on “Sky”.
“Provoked me”
However, he is not thinking of apologizing to Leroy Sane: “Not with Sane: he comes into the coaching zone to provoke me. I was in my area, wanted to get the ball and give it to him. He pushed me and then I did of course reacted. That’s not okay, I understand the red card. Of course I was also a bit nervous regarding the penalty scene,” said Bjelica. The Union coach is now facing a long ban.
