The Federal General Assembly finalizes and approves the list and election program for the 2024 European elections
Vienna (OTS) – At today’s Federal Members’ Meeting of NEOS in Vorarlberg, the list for the European elections was finalized according to a three-stage pre-election system with broad citizen participation. After Helmut Brandstätter was elected as the top candidate, the other places on the list were also chosen. Anna Stürgkh is running for second place. Peter Berry was voted third, Rainer Hable came fourth and Arabel Bernecker-Thiel is running for fifth place on the list.
NEOS chairwoman Beate Meinl-Reisinger: “I am very happy regarding the fantastic team and would like to express my thanks to everyone who took part in the primaries and sent such a strong signal for Europe. Our way to the United States of Europe
In addition, at today’s general meeting, the election program for the European elections was decided, which was developed in a broad participation process together with citizens. The paper entitled “Europe before deciding on the future: Our path to the United States of Europe” focuses on the vision of a sovereign union capable of making decisions, acting and having a future.
These include, among other things, a strengthened EU Parliament with only one location, a smaller EU Commission with a president directly elected by citizens, as well as more transparency and a clear sanction mechanism once morest governments for violations of common values.
NEOS counters their critical finding that the member states have outsourced Europe’s security to the USA for far too long and left Putin’s energy supply to Russia and industrial production to Asia by strengthening the common foreign and defense policy with the aim of a European army, as well as a efficient energy union and strengthening Europe as an industrial and working location, among other things through reducing bureaucracy and targeted investments in the future. These measures are not only intended to make the EU more independent and sovereign, they are also key levers for combating inflation and enabling a new economic miracle in Europe.
