“ruel” was at the sold out simm city and impressed from start to finish!

I haven’t been to a single concert in Simm City that disappointed me. So I was very curious to see whether “Ruel” also had what it took to win me and the rest of the Viennese audience over. Of course the Australian didn’t come alone, the band “telenovaaccompanied him as a support band and they shortened the waiting time optimally.

the first sounds of “go on without me” sounded and “ruel“ immediately surprised his audience – he didn’t step from the edge of the stage in front of the crowd, but instead he hid behind a curtain (on which the cover of the album was printed) and finally appeared right in the middle! At first he stayed in the background on a hill where he sang and danced. It wasn’t until the second song that “Ruel” moved to the front of the stage and immediately unpacked his biggest hits “Growing Up is __” and “You Against Yourself”.

Multi-instrumentalist “Ruel” impressed with his mix of pop dance songs and emotional piano songs – he even performed the latter on the piano himself. He not only played his own songs, but also well-known hits such as “Dancing Queen” (abba) and “Night Changes” (one direction). What was also on his set list: title adjustments to the city he was playing in! The number “sitting in traffic” was written down as “schnitzel in traffic”, “if and/or when” became “if and/or wien” and “free time” turned into “freud time” – very creative!

Another plus point: being close to fans was also part of his program – he performed a song while sitting at the edge of the stage, very close to his fans. In general he seemed incredibly comfortable on stage! and: I had the feeling of being connected to him immediately.

At some point “Ruel” disappeared from the stage and I thought it was over. My favorite song was still missing, but otherwise all my wishes were fulfilled. Suddenly the musicians came back on stage and “Ruel” followed them jumping, including a new outfit (sweater instead of a white mesh shirt). I gathered my remaining energy to really go off, because now the exact song I was waiting for was playing: “I don’t want to be like you”. Afterwards I was able to go home completely happy – I hope that he will soon find his way to Europe once more, because the concert was definitely one of the most beautiful for me.
