At the end of 2023, Great Wall became the new leader in the primary pickup truck market in Russia. This was reported by the analytical agency Autostat.
Sales of Great Wall pickup trucks last year amounted to 5,025 units, UAZ dropped to second place in the ranking with a result of 3,355 units. The Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant has been the leader in the pickup truck segment since 2016. Third place was taken by the Chinese JAC (2386 units), followed by the American RAM, Japanese Toyota and Mitsubishi.
In the model rating, the UAZ Pickup took first place (3,355 units), the top three was closed by Great Wall Poer (2,937) and JAC T6 (1,789). Next are the RAM 1500, Mitsubishi L200, Great Wall Poer KingKong and Toyota Hilux.
In total, at the end of last year, 17.2 thousand new pickup trucks were sold in the Russian Federation, which is 2.2 times more than in 2022.
According to Avtostat estimates as of mid-January, the share of car dealers representing Chinese brands in Russia has doubled over the year. If in January 2023 it was 33.3%, then by January of this year it increased to 60.4%.
