TEC Bus Strike: Driver Attacked and Network Disruption

A driver of TEC bus line 33 was attacked Thursday followingnoon in Manage (Hainaut). Following this incident, the Center’s network was disrupted on Thursday evening and the emotional movement spread to all of the Hainaut depots on Friday, explained the marketing director and spokesperson for the TEC, Stéphane Thiery.

Young people, following having accidentally used the stop request, came to break down the doors. The driver therefore had to reboot the system. In doing so, he asked them to stop. What followed was an exchange of words which quickly degenerated into blows.“, details Mr. Thiery. The driver was taken care of and examined at the hospital. He mainly suffered from bruises and returned home Thursday evening, continues the spokesperson.

An investigation is underway and the TEC says it cannot say more at this stage.

The person concerned made a statement to the police and the TEC filed a complaint, Stéphane Thiery further clarified.
