During the day on Thursday, January 25, the dollar in Peru closed higher, following expected data from the US economy that was above market forecasts and did not cause a change with respect to expectations regarding the start of cuts of rates by the Federal Reserve (Fed).
The exchange rate ended the day at S/ 3,767 per dollar, an advance compared to Wednesday’s close of S/ 3,761, according to data from the Bloomberg Agency.
So far this year, the greenback has accumulated a decline of 1.62% compared to the last quote in 2023, at S/ 3,807.

Parallel market
In the parallel market or the main exchange houses, the dollar is bought at S/ 3,755 and sold at S/ 3,760, according to data from the quéestaeldolar.pe portal.
Likewise, the average price in the banking market is S/ 3.75 for purchase and S/ 3.77 for sale.

Latin American currencies registered uneven behavior in the first hours of business on Thursday, following expected data from the US economy that were above market forecasts and did not cause a change with respect to expectations regarding the start of rate cuts by the Federal Reserve (Fed).
The United States economy grew more than expected in the fourth quarter in a context of strong consumer spending and left in nothing the predictions of those who expected a recession in 2023 due to the aggressive increases in interest rates, with an expansion for the entire year of 2.5%.
Gross domestic product last quarter rose 3.3% at an annualized rate, the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Economic Analysis reported Thursday in its advance estimate of fourth-quarter GDP.
