India beat Ireland by 201 runs in U-19 Cricket World Cup. Batting following losing the toss, India scored 301 runs for the loss of seven wickets thanks to Musheer Khan’s century and captain Uday Saharan’s half-century. Ireland’s reply was limited to 100 runs.
Musheer Khan scored 118 runs off 106 balls for India while Uday Saharan provided good support with 75 runs off 84 balls. No one else might contribute significantly. Other scorers were Adarsh Singh (17), Arshin Kulkarni (32), Aravelli Avinash (22), Sachin Das (21 not out), Priyanshu Molia (2) and Murugan Abhishek (0). Oliver Riley took three wickets for Ireland while John McNally took two wickets and Finn Luton took one wicket.
The Indian bowlers did not allow Ireland’s batsmen to settle down with a target of 302 runs. By the time 31 runs were scored, both the openers returned. The six people who came later walked back without being able to cross the double digit. The ninth wicket partnership between Oliver Riley and Daniel Forkin rescued the team from a huge embarrassment. Ireland’s top scorer was Daniel Forkin who remained unbeaten on 27 runs. Ireland’s innings also came to an end when Finn Luton, who scored seven runs, was dismissed. Naman Tiwari four, Soumi Pandey three, Dhanush Gowda, Murugan Abhishek and Uday Saharan took one wicket each for India.
