FC Bayern has reduced the gap to leaders Bayer Leverkusen to four points in the German Bundesliga. The defending champions achieved a difficult 1-0 home win over Union Berlin in the supplementary game of the 13th round on Wednesday. Raphael Guerreiro scored the decisive goal in the 46th minute. Christopher Trimmel played well for the guests, and his compatriot Konrad Laimer was substituted for the home side in the 86th minute.

The ÖFB team player left the arena limping; according to initial information, he may have suffered a muscle injury in his calf. “I hope that it is as little as possible,” said Laimer. Salzburg, who was once more called up as a right-back, was the focus in the 72nd minute when he fought a duel with Union’s Kevin Behrens in the penalty area. Behrens fell, but there was no penalty.

Shortly followingwards, this made Union coach Nenad Bjelica so angry that the ex-Austria coach grabbed Bayern star Leroy Sane twice in the face when he tried to steal the ball from Bjelica to take a throw-in. Bjelica saw red, Sane yellow.

The coach then appeared remorseful. “He pushed me, then I reacted the way I shouldn’t react with my hand on his face.” His behavior cannot be tolerated. “I understand the red card,” said Bjelica, who now faces a ban. Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel said: “It’s not my place to judge.”
