Developers who allow their apps to be downloaded in the European Union will still face restrictions from Apple.
According to The Wall Street Journal, the company will indeed allow users to download apps outside of the App Store. However, the company will still review each new program before publishing it and take a commission, supposedly 27%, on each purchase.
The company has been working on a new app download system for more than a year. And in recent months, Cupertino officials have held meetings with EU officials to discuss new rules.
There are no clear details of how the updated App Store will work. However, we will find out in the coming month, since the EU Digital Markets Law will come into force on March 7th. [MacRumors]
