Senegal’s Victorious National Team and the Fight Against Discrimination in the Presidential Election

2024-01-24 16:04:54

At the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, the talented national team of our country, Senegal, has just brilliantly qualified for the round of 16, beating, following Gambia and Cameroon, the team from Guinea Conakry.

This great victory for our country is the fruit of the excellent work of coach Aliou Cissé, his staff and the national team, made up of numerous dual nationals, players whose two parents were born Senegalese, players in couples mixed, of immigrant families without distinction or racial hierarchy. All patriots and proud to wear the national jersey very high.

This extraordinary journey unfortunately contrasts with the shameful decision of the Senegalese Constitutional Council which confirmed in its decision of January 20, 2024 once morest Mr. Karim WADE. Indeed, to thwart his candidacy for the presidential election of February 25, 2024, the judges of the Constitutional Council criticized him for having a French mother to rule out his candidacy for the supreme office. It is a despicable decision which now establishes a racist hierarchy between Senegalese citizens according to their origin and place of birth. Indeed, the President of Macky SALL, like what the Vichy regime once was, distinguishes, on the one hand, the Senegalese who would be pure and worthy of standing in the presidential election and, on the other on the other hand, the others impure because they come from immigrant families or mixed couples, considered as second-class citizens and prohibited from running for president.

For the honor of Senegal, for the cohesion of the homeland, it is high time to mobilize all over the world to prevent our Senegal from becoming, under the racist regime of Macky SALL, a xenophobic state which discriminates once morest its daughters and sons from mixed couples, immigrants or dual nationals. I am already announcing to you that I will contact the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva to have the rights of Mr. Karim WADE recognized.

Other mobilization and struggle actions are planned to obtain an inclusive presidential election with the reinstatement of the candidacy of Karim Meissa WADE. Supporting our inclusive national team
