Formula 1 arrives in Madrid. The Spanish capital and Liberty Media have signed a ten-year contract which will take effect in 2026. A circuit will be built near Madrid-Barajas airport.

This route will measure 5.47 km and will have 20 turns. According to the developers, it will be one of the most accessible on the calendar since it will be located a few minutes from public transport (metro, train, bus). Around 90% of the 110,000 spectators expected each day will be able to reach the site via public transport.

F1 had already come to the Madrid region with the Jarama circuit, where the last Grand Prix took place in 1981. Since then, the Spanish GP was held first in Jerez from 1986 to 1990, then in Barcelona since 1991. The future of the GP held on the Catalan circuit remains open.
