Security agents found almost a ton and a half of possible narcotics in a property located in Tula de Allende, Hidalgo. A search was carried out in said entity by members of the Criminal Investigation Agency (AIC).

The discovery was reported by the Attorney General’s Office (FGR) on Monday, January 22. The review of the site was following the authorities received a report in which it was mentioned that there were weapons and drugs at the site.

The property reviewed by the authorities is located in the El Llano neighborhood and the authorities detailed that the alleged cocaine was in more than 900 packages that were behind a plywood wall.

Specifically, the FGR detailed that behind said wall there were around one ton and 400 kilograms of possible cocaine. The site was secured by federal authorities, who keep both the property and the seized substances and objects in custody.

“The property, narcotics and war objects, were under the protection of the Federal authority while the respective investigations continue,” the FGR statement reads.

In the images shared by the authorities you can see that part of the material found was in several gray containers and that behind the plywood wall there were hundreds of packages wrapped in yellow.

Likewise, it can be seen that to access the narcotics the agents used an axe. The criminal group that would be related to the substance found is not known.

Hidalgo is an entity in which clandestine hydrocarbon intakes have been recorded, an activity known as huachicol. In the first days of 2024 alone, a total of 10 clandestine intakes were disabled, which were allegedly used for the illegal theft of hydrocarbons.

National Guard agents carried out surveillance tours and found the illegal intakes in the municipalities of Ajacuba, Epazoyucan, Mineral de la Reforma, Pachuca de Soto, San Agustín Metzquititlán, Singuilucan and Tetepango.

Last October, at least two versions, contradictory to each other, were recorded regarding the presence of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) in the entity.

Salvador Cruz Neri, head of the Hidalgo Security Secretariat, highlighted that there is no clarity regarding the operations of the four-letter cartel. “The day one of those cartels decides to enter Hidalgo, we will be attentive, but there is no cartel as such operating,” he said.

But his statements contrast with what was stated by General Alfredo Salgado Vargas, who did accept the presence of the criminal group CJNG in Hidalgo. It was only last October that Salgado Vargas, who was appointed commander of the 18th Military Zone of Pachuca, was questioned regarding whether The criminal organization commanded by El Mencho would have a presence in Hidalgo.

“There are various cartels identified here that maintain a presence, such as the Jalisco Cartel and some others that are local or regional,” said Salgado Vargas.

In addition, the governor of the entity has said that the CJNG does have activity in Hidalgo. Julio Menchaca Salazar even detailed that the criminal organization predominates in those municipalities where fuel is extracted illegally, that is, huachicol.
