AVISO press event on January 30th, 10 a.m

Vienna (OTS) – 2024 marks the 150th birthday of the poet, playwright and co-founder of the Salzburg Festival Hugo von Hofmannsthal (1874–1929). On this occasion, the Theater Museum is dedicating an exhibition to this artist that focuses on defining aspects of his work: Hofmannsthal’s examination of the function and design of spaces. Together with theater greats such as Max Reinhardt and Alfred Roller, he created works such as Elektra, The Rosenkavalier as well as the film of the same name, iconic imagery. But he also had his apartment in downtown Vienna designed by Oskar Strnad with great pleasure.

Staging Hofmannsthal shows that the stage is more than just a backdrop – it is an independent, extremely lively actor!

The exhibition takes place in cooperation with the Free German Bishopric in Frankfurt am Main, which holds most of Hugo von Hofmannsthal’s estate.

STAGING HOFMANNSTHAL will be shown in the Theatermuseum from January 31st to August 19th, 2024.

Media representatives are cordially invited to the press conference.
