Preventative Mosquito Control Operations in Vaitea following Dengue Fever Detection in Faa’a

2024-01-23 02:09:00

Due to a new case of dengue fever detected in Faa’a, a mosquito control operation has been scheduled in Vaitea. A first spraying was carried out this Monday morning and two other actions will be carried out on Thursday and Friday. The objective is to avoid any risk of spreading the virus via mosquitoes in the neighborhood.

So the:

• Thursday January 25, a clearance will be carried out in the same area with an intervention inside the properties subject to the presence of the owner and his agreement.

• Friday January 26, a second insecticide spraying will be carried out. It is vital to leave doors and windows wide open when spraying, recommends the Health Department.

In the event of unforeseen events (unfavorable weather: rain, winds; or equipment breakdowns), these treatments will be postponed and the people concerned will be informed in advance.

In order to anticipate and slow down a possible spread of the disease, the population is recommended to:

  • Consult a doctor if dengue fever is suspected (high fever, headache, body aches)
  • Get rid of mosquito breeding grounds around your home and workplace.
  • Protect yourself from bites, particularly by applying skin repellents, insecticides, diffusers, etc.

For any information on mosquito treatments, the Environmental Health Center of the Health Directorate is available at 40 503 745 or by email at cse@sante.gov.pf
