Natalia Castro Córdoba was the closest daughter of former senator Piedad Córdoba. At least, the woman who was by her side in recent years in the liberal leader’s political career and who witnessed the last days and hours of La Negra, as her friends fondly remembered her.
“What great pain,” Natalia told SEMANA.

Castro remains on the morning of this Monday, January 22, in Chocó, where the senator’s body is honored in her homeland. And, later, he will be in Bogotá and Medellín, where the senator will finally rest in peace. Natalia does not want to detach herself from her mother for a minute, as she did during her lifetime. Nor, Juan Luis, her brother, the former congressman of the Green Alliance, also son of Piedad Córdoba.
“I remember her as a warrior woman, of great struggles, a woman who loved her country, her people, who always gave everything, a humble woman, very happy, dreamer, entrepreneur. In short, the best mom in the world,” Natalia describes her mother.

And Córdoba was the driving force of his family. Some of her children, grandchildren, nephews, cousins depended on her. She was the advisor, the grounding pole, the woman who consulted on each of the decisions.
Former senator Piedad Córdoba died on Saturday, January 20. She was in her apartment, in Medellín, where – according to preliminary versions – she suffered a heart attack. They managed to take her to a clinic, but reports indicate that she arrived without vital signs.

Even a few hours before her death, she was active on her social networks with comments and opinions on issues of national interest, such as the takeover and retaking of the Palace of Justice in Bogotá.
“So, Magistrate Urán comes out alive, he is received by the military, then he is miserably murdered and his body is placed in the ruins of the Palace of Justice. Do we have a serious debate on historical revisionism? Go ahead, but first get out of historical denialism,” he wrote for the last time. Hours later his voice and his handwriting faded away.
