UKHSA health professionals fear the number of cases will rise rapidly as children return to school, especially as the administration of the MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) vaccine is “worrying” in parts of the West Midlands. In Malaysiaaccording to mediathe health authorities of the State of Sabah are working to stem a measles outbreak in the district of Penampang. Forty-five cases were reported in December 2023, and 7 in the first two weeks of 2024. UNITED STATES
The public health department of Georgia (DPH) has confirmed a case of measles in an unvaccinated resident of the metropolitan area ofAtlanta. This person was exposed to measles while traveling abroad (the country was not specified). DPH is working to identify anyone who may have come into contact with this person while they were contagious.
The last reported case of measles in Georgia was in 2020.
