LONDON/EXETER – The UK is in the grip of another storm even before the snow and extreme cold leave. A new storm, Isha, will hit the UK from this evening. The Met Office in Exeter warned of gusts of up to 80mph. The main feature is that Storm Isha will hit most parts of the UK. Storm Isha comes on the heels of Storm Hank, which caused flooding and traffic disruption in the UK earlier this month. The Met Office also warns that people may lose their lives due to heavy winds and rain.
Storm Isha will hit parts of England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland from 6pm. The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning. A yellow rain warning is in place for some areas. Big waves will hit the coastal areas. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a risk to life as loose objects of buildings and other things are blown away by the wind. Roads and bridges will be closed. There is a possibility of power outage in many places. Rail and bus services will face delays and cancellations. The first of the amber warnings is in place for Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, northern England and south-west England from 6pm today until 9am on Monday.
Heavy rains accompanying the storm will cause flooding this week, the Met Office said. In England, the Environment Agency has issued eight flood warnings of expected flooding and 52 flood warnings of potential flooding until Saturday evening. After days of freezing temperatures and snow in parts of the UK, higher temperatures are expected by the end of the weekend. But the Meteorological Center also said that it will not feel more hot due to the wind.
