On Sunday, January 21, a newly discovered asteroid will impact Earth, specifically in northwest Germany, 100 kilometers west of Berlin. The entry of the asteroid will be visible in countries such as Germany, Poland, Czechia and Denmark.

“You should be alert for a nice fireball approaching. Every image from the event can be important, so get out if you are in those regions.”

On January 21 (German time) the asteroid entered the planet and was captured on video in which a fireball was seen entering the night sky of the European country.

On social networks, some people shared images showing the exact moment when the asteroid broke up in the sky over Germany.

Are asteroids that impact Earth dangerous?

According to scientists, there are continually asteroids that pass near the Earth, but only some impact the planet. These bodies are of various sizes, however, so far none have been dangerous to humanity.

NASA explained that an asteroid is considered potentially dangerous when it is more than 150 meters in diameter and approaches the planet in less than 0.05 astronomical units, equivalent to 7 million 480 thousand kilometers.
