Given the success of its B2C site, Alentour changed its name to Manawa. Alentour acquired the general public site Manawa.com in 2022, thus becoming the leading marketplace for booking outdoor and adventure tourist activities in France and Europe.
Manawa and Surrounding Areas, whose mission is to allow as many people as possible to discover nature and adventure activities, pool their strengths under the same brand, Time, to realize several ambitions. Already, Respond to a growing digital demand for outdoor and adventure activities (canoeing, scuba diving, dog sledding, boat tours, paragliding flights, etc.), by focusing primarily on the digitalization and online sale of this type of experience. The objective: to achieve more than 10,000 connected activities by the end of 2024.
Today, Manawa.com offers more than 8,000 outdoor and adventure activities around the world, to do with family, friends, or alone. The reservations website aspires in 2024 to expand its offering in various key areas, not only in France, but also in Greece, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria and the Scandinavian countries, among others.
The marketplace also intends to enrich its catalog by developing new verticals such as the rental of bicycles and sports equipment. (it already offers ski rental thanks to its partnership with Intersport), indoor activities such as indoor climbing, escape games, free fall simulators, as well as unusual experiences, which are still difficult to find online.
The objective is to reach 100 million business volume in 2027-2028 in encouraging the digitalization of professionals in the sector so that they gain visibility and autonomy. Indeed, according to a study by Roland Berger carried out for the Banque des Territoires, in 2020, only 5% of the business volume of the 120,000 to 150,000 producers of leisure activities in France came from digital reservations. The digitalization of these offers therefore represents a major opportunity for the sector.
“Manawa is the flagship of Alentour. Since the acquisition, we have learned a lot regarding the leisure market and what consumers want and need. They are looking for more autonomy in managing their reservations, and are used to making their purchases on e-commerce platforms where they can filter their searches on a single page. Today, we are therefore going to accelerate the growth of our B2C channel
while maintaining our B2B2C activity. Thus, Alentour’s 2,500 affiliated distributors will be able to continue to offer our offers to their customers, and allow them to benefit from our exclusive catalog. This is already the case for our historical partners such as Agence Savoie Mont Blanc, Pierre & Vacances, Campings.com, Odalys Vacances, etc.“, explain Timothée de Roux, CEO of Manawa.
