The new season at Limoges airport is launched! With a new direct flight to Marseille, the establishment will offer, between March and October, nine destinations by dry flight, including the unmissable Marrakech. Added to this are turnkey single-date stays (excluding July and August) for Puglia, Croatia, Malta and Andalusia. The Passion Voyages show organized on Saturday January 20 by Fitour attracted many initial candidates.

“The people of Haut-Viennois want to travel, I believe they need it to cope with the economic situation. It doesn’t matter if they don’t go exactly where they wanted to, what matters is to leave and break away from everyday life.”

From her office in Limoges-Bellegarde, Lucille Forsans observes and adapts to the desires of local clients, fond of “the beach and heritage”, to escape. In 2023, the destinations they requested the most were “Madeira, Jordan and Corsica”.

This year, “Madeira remains in the lead, but it is followed by Corsica – very popular with our customers – and Italy. The people of Haut-Viennois were very disappointed that Limoges no longer had a direct flight to Corsica. They will still go there, but from Toulouse or Bordeaux,” notes the travel advisor from Fitour.

“Very calculated” budgets

However, not everyone goes to Madeira, Corsica or Italy. “Long weekends in London are a hit”, the same for Morocco. But the trend towards nearby destinations is strengthening, “Europe is increasingly in demand,” notes the advisor. It must be said that “the budgets are very calculated. The distant is for wealthy customers and frequent travelers. »

Croatia, Portugal, Italy… turnkey

This new March-October 2024 season will allow you to directly join Croatia, Montenegro, Jordan, Malta, Puglia (Italy), Algarve (southern Portugal) and Slovenia in the category of turnkey stays, generally on a single date. Lapland is already full, but another departure, set for March 1, 2025, has opened reservations.

Some options will allow you to travel by bus to Venice, Andalusia, Austria or Albania. And buses will sometimes be made available to reach another departure airport (Peru).

Marseille, Marrakech, Lyon… in dry flights

Dry flights will reach from March: Bristol (three times a week, from June to August), East Midlands, Leeds-Bradford (from June), London-Stansted, Lyon (except in August), Manchester, Marrakech, London- Gatwick (from the end of June to September) and, new, Marseille.

“This last destination will have two flights per week and will allow you to reach Corsica, which we hope to offer once more by direct flight next year,” slips Philippe Thibaut, who says he is working on adding another “Mediterranean” destination. additional. It would be located towards “the center” of Europe. Is it Greece, which we ask a lot of Lucille Forsans? He will say no more: “Answer in October”.

These increasing figures have not caught up with those before Covid (301,000 passengers in 2019). The airport team plans to meet them once more at the end of the year.

Philippe Thibaut, director of Limoges airport, and Lucille Forsans, employee of the Fitour travel agency, recognize this without difficulty: the price of plane tickets has increased, “by around 15%” estimates Lucille “and even much more according to some travelers.” How much will dry flights between Limoges and Marseille, Bristol or Marrakech cost? “It will be low cost, but you have to keep in mind that the earlier you book, the more interesting the price will be,” advises Philippe Thibaut.
