The Bakr Al Shadi Theater, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, received the Joy Awards, an entertainment artistic event organized by the General Entertainment Authority, as part of the Riyadh Season activities, to celebrate artistic people from the world of cinema, drama, and music, in addition to sports and Arab influencers.
The ceremony, presented by the Lebanese artist Carmen Basibis and Wissam Breidi, began with an artistic performance by one of the international bands, amidst distinctive audio and visual effects, followed by the showing of a short documentary film, which includes the most prominent activities of the fourth edition of the Riyadh Season, from last October until now.
The ceremony included a singing segment by the Syrian singer Asala, in the middle of a show scene, as she presented the song “Abouk Baqa and Stay in Your Self”, then the Egyptian singer Sherine Abdel Wahab presented another singing segment, before the artist Abdel Majeed Abdullah went up and sang one of his songs, so that the artist concluded. Amr Diab, performing the song “Let’s Be Happy”, with great interaction from the audience.
“The eyes of the heart”
The ceremony witnessed many surprises, perhaps the most prominent of which was the appearance of the Egyptian singer Najat Al-Saghira, following very long years of absence from the artistic scene and the limelight in general, amid a warm reception from the audience, before she sang her famous song “Eyes of the Heart”, to be delivered by the head of the General Entertainment Authority, Counselor Turki Al. Sheikh, a special honor from Joy Awards.
“Leader of Arab Art”
The Egyptian artist Adel Imam was also honored with an exceptional award bearing the name “Leader of Arab Art Award”, which was received by director Rami Imam and artist Mohamed Imam, the two sons of “The Leader”, and he sent an audio message in which he greeted his fans, saying: “I love you, and may God fill all your days with happiness.” .
For his part, Counselor Turki Al-Sheikh confirmed that: “This award is exceptional, and is specific to the artist Adel Imam only, as it is presented once in the history of the Joy Awards.”
Isaad Younis.. “Lifelong Achievement”
The artist and media personality, Isaad Younis, received an exceptional award entitled “Lifetime Achievement Award”, which was presented to her by the Indian artist Salman Khan. She commented, saying: “I am proud of the artistic renaissance that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has witnessed in recent years,” and stressed the necessity of interconnection to provide more artistic achievements and access to… Towards globalization.
English actor Anthony Hopkins also received the Lifetime Achievement Award, which he received from Chancellor Turki Al-Sheikh. In his speech, he thanked the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, calling for peace to prevail throughout the world.
The Syrian artist, Mona Wassef, received the same award, in recognition of her artistic career, which has extended for years at the level of cinema, television, and theatre. In her speech, she addressed her late mother, saying: “My mother was angry with me because I did not complete my studies because of acting, so I was hoping that she would be next to me now to feel that I am… I made something.”
Meanwhile, Chinese pianist Lang Lang received the “Honorary Entertainment Makers” Award, which was presented to him by Maestro Hani Farhat, following he performed a piece on stage.
Lebanese fashion designer Elie Saab was also honored, as he received from Chancellor Turki Al-Sheikh the “Diamond Entertainment Makers” award, which came days following signing a partnership with “Riyadh Season.”
Maestro Walid Fayed won the “Honorary Entertainment Makers” Award, as he achieved artistic successes in the Arab world, cooperated with a large number of artists, and presented prominent nights of singing.
American artist Eva Longoria won the “Personality of the Year” award in recognition of her artistic career and prominent societal role. She received the award from singer Nancy Ajram.
The “Honorary Entertainment Makers” Award was received by Indian artist Alia Bhatt and American artist Martin Lawrence, which he received from Saudi actor Ibrahim Al-Hajjaj, as well as international director Zack Snyder, and director Marwan Hamed handed it to him.
While the artist Kevin Costner received the Lifetime Achievement Award, which was presented to him by the artist Ahmed Ezz, and the same award was received by the artist Rabeh Saqr, as well as the Saudi artist Ali Al Midfa.
The series “Under Guardianship” also received the “Honorary Entertainment Makers” Award, which was received by the creators of the work: (Mona Zaki, Khaled and Sherine Diab, and director Mohamed Shaker Khudair), and the same award was won by the singer Najwa Karam, in appreciation of her singing career.
“The Best”… Karim Abdel Aziz and Nelly Karim
Kuwaiti artist Rahaf Mohammed won the Best Actress Award for the series “With Their Soul at Home,” and thanked her mother, who supported her throughout her artistic journey and achieved more successes. The award was presented by the artist Ahmed El Sakka.
The artist Saad Aziz won the award for best actor in the series category, for his role in the series “Sikka Safar 2”, while the award for best series went to “Crystal”.
The artist Walid Qahran won the award for the best new face in the series category, following his experience in the series “Studio 23”, and it was presented to him by the American artist Anthony Anderson, who thanked the organizers of the ceremony.
The artist Nelly Karim won the Best Actress Award in the Film Category, for her role in the movie “Voy Voy Voy.” The artist Karim Abdel Aziz won the Best Actor Award for his role in the movie “House of the Ruby,” while the Saudi comedy movie “Sattar” won. Award for Best Cinematography.
The Saudi singer Ayed won the award for best singer, while Asala won the award for best singer, and received it from the artist Muhammad Abdo, while Talal Salem won the award for best emerging singer, while the award for best song went to the Shami artist, for the song “Oh Night and Eyes.”
Bibi Al-Abdul Mohsen won the Best Influential Personality Award, which was presented to her by the artist Akram Hosni. The award was considered “the beginning of achieving more successes in the coming years,” while Ahmed Al-Qahtani “Shog Bong” won the Best Influencer Award, receiving it from the artist Chico.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of a large number of artists from the Arab world, including Muhammad Abdo, Ragheb Alama, Hoda Hussein, Abdullah Al-Sadhan, Sulafa Meamar, Jamal Suleiman, Abed Fahd, Daoud Hussein, Takla Chamoun, Pamela Kik, Rita Harb, Mila Al-Zahrani, and Nicole.
