With a crestfallen face and a stiff tone, Nick Read, the boss of the Post Office, and Paul Patterson, the European director of Fujitsu, are facing an avalanche of questions from the Economic Affairs Committee in Parliament on January 16. When did Post Office managers first have their doubts regarding Horizon software? Why did they sue so many agents for fraud?

Questions abound when, suddenly, the boss of Fujitsu publicly apologizes for the first time and admits: “We have a moral obligation” to compensate the victims. Without the ITV series, the English TF1, this parliamentary hearing would undoubtedly not have changed the course of things and led to action. Enough to make a television proud not only above all old-fashioned linear, but also domestic, in the face of American platforms whose Holy Grail are local series which can be exported.
