As the year slowly comes to an end and Christmas is just around the corner, every now and then bands come up with the idea of giving their fans a little gift. That’s how it is with Palaye Royale, who gave their loyal listeners a surprise EP for the Christmas celebration. And the fact that you can expect something special doesn’t even need to be mentioned with this band.
Since this year at the latest, the American trio has been one of the biggest newcomers ever. And already the opener Stripped directly shows the range of genres that the band serves. After relaxed beats at the beginning, distorted raps soon take over, giving the whole thing a very relaxed, almost summery vibe in the dead of winter. But how might it be otherwise, hard screams suddenly appear towards the end and plunge the song deep into metalcore.
Through the entire emotional world
And this scheme is exploited throughout the entire EP. After Desire then comes across as rather calm and almost depressive, and also Dead To Me is a rather emotional song with the guitar turned down and gentle sounds, memories of the first song come back.
Because the conclusion with Closer The Americans succeed brilliantly. After a funky start, they create a song with interesting beats that, combined with good guitar riffs, make you want to tap along and round off the album in a very positive way.
On the way to the top
The band wants to thank their fans for their meteoric rise over the last year. After the release of their last album in 2022, they toured Europe, the USA and Great Britain last year, where they sold out the large Apollo Hall in London, among other places.
And for Palaye Royale It shouldn’t be boring in 2024 either. A few tours around the world have been announced, including the big one Tons Of Rock in Norway. And especially for such large events, we finally have fresh material available once more. You can’t even classify your style correctly: something between core and hip hop, but above all one thing: a lot of dirty rock’n’roll!

Palaye Royale create with their EP Sextape a colorful mix of hip hop, core and rock’n’roll that shows not only die-hard fans what they have achieved in 2023 and will still achieve in 2024. The way to the top has been paved and with this wild mix of genres, this rise will come naturally! 8 / 10
