ÖVP general secretary demands an immediate statement and clarification from the FPÖ party leader
Vienna (OTS) – “Herbert Kickl’s persistent silence makes him partly responsible for the blue swamp of corruption. Even if Kickl tries to brush off the accusations of personal enrichment: the financial scandal surrounding the FPÖ Graz cannot be downplayed. Quite the opposite: It needs to be clarified whether high-ranking FPÖ officials have put money in their own pockets. After all, this involves millions of dollars in taxpayer money that may have been misused. The news magazine ‘Profil’ reports on trips to South America at party expense and other luxury expenses in the FPÖ. And according to media reports, Kickl’s confidant Mario Kunasek, regional party leader of the responsible FPÖ Styria, is in the middle of it instead of just being there in the Graz financial scandal. It is becoming increasingly clear: as soon as it comes to your own party, transparency no longer plays a role for Kickl. If he were to apply the same standards to himself that he applies to others, he would long since have asked himself to resign. The same applies to his Styrian state party leader Mario Kunasek, whom he is trying to defend with all his might,” comments General Secretary of the People’s Party, Christian Stocker, on the latest reports on the FPÖ’s financial scandal.
“Herbert Kickl, who is usually not at a loss for a meaningful statement, remains silent in the face of all these events. It seems as if he hopes that the blue swamp of scandal will be overlooked if he just stays quiet enough. I trust the justice system to get to the bottom of this. Instead of clearing up the matter, Kickl has so far only been noticed by expelling those from the party who wanted to clear up this scandal,” concluded Stocker.
