She was expected. We now know the opening date of the Grand Frais store, at Polygone Riviera, in Cagnes-sur-Mer. As a reminder, the announcement of the arrival of this brand created controversy last June.
And for good reason: during its construction, the mayor of Cagnes, Louis Nègre, and the open-air shopping center, had committed not to open food outlets, so as not to compete with businesses in the city center. But the new support charter, renewable every five years, has decided otherwise. Grand Frais will therefore open its doors to the public on Wednesday January 31. The official inauguration will be held Friday February 2, at 11 a.m.
Relaunch the upper commercial area?
The Grand Frais locomotive will be located on the upper floor (near the pharmacy), and might allow Polygone to (finally) relaunch attendance around Printemps, rather at half mast compared to the lower floor, boosted by the giant Primark.
Can a food brand work in a shopping center? A few days ago, Hervé Vallat, boss of Prosol, the structure which supplies fruits and vegetables, fish and the creamery to Grand Frais, confided in the columns of LSA-Conso: “We do not prohibit ourselves from going in a shopping center. We opened in the Les Armoiries center in Bry-sur-Marne, in Val-de-Marne, and it works very well. It is one of the 25 best stores today.”
