On a working visit to the provinces of Huíla and Benguela, governor of the National Bank of Angola brings to light the old problem that greatly affects the business environment, but the bank signals the same response
The National Bank of Angola pointed to the greater action of commercial banks towards small businesses, as heard in the words of the governor, Manuel Tiago Dias, during the recent working visit to the provinces of Benguela and Huíla.
The purpose of the visit was to ensure full compliance with the goals set out in the Libongo Strategic Plan 2023–2028 and to strengthen organizational excellence, but it ended up drawing attention to this request, which gains greater relevance as it was made by the regulator and by send an old but current problem.
Although it has improved here and there, with particular emphasis on fiscal issues, Angola has one of the worst performances in the world’s famous business environment quality rankings.
In the World Bank’s “Doing Business”, one of the several variables that are taken into account to classify the best or worst business environment is exactly the ease of access to credit, and Angola is one of the worst in this regard.
