“A VICTORY” FOR THEO’S LAWYER

The conviction on Friday of three police officers for the violent arrest in 2017 of Théo Luhaka is “a victory for us”, reacted his lawyer Antoine Vey in Bobigny.

“It is a decision of appeasement that we take as a victory,” declared Me Vey, the police officers having been sentenced to sentences ranging from 3 to 12 months in prison suspended by the Assize Court of Seine-Saint -Denis.

Present at the exit of the court, Théodore Luhaka, seriously injured in the anus during his arrest in 2017, did not speak.

CONVICTIONS

The court sentences Tony. H, 31 years old and Jérémie D., 43 years old, to three months’ suspended imprisonment as well as a two-year ban on practicing on public roads and carrying a weapon.

She sentences Marc-Antoine C., the main accused, to a 12-month suspended prison sentence accompanied by a five-year ban on practicing on public roads and carrying a weapon. The accused was found guilty of the offense of “willful violence”. The court did not, however, accept the criminal classification, considering that the baton blow had not caused “with certainty a permanent disability”.

No reaction from the three men at the bar. No reaction in the room either. The hearing was then suspended.
