Nizhny Novgorod hockey club “Torpedo” signed new contract with head coach Igor Larionov.

“It’s no secret that extending the contract with Igor Nikolaevich was one of our priorities. The vector of development that we chose definitely appealed to the fans. And the attention to the club, combined with sporting results, as well as the discovery and development of new players, speaks for itself. We are glad that together with Igor Larionov we will be able to continue moving in the given direction and will transfer all our successes to the new ice arena. This KHL season, the Nizhny Novgorod club has played 52 meetings, in which it scored 63 points, and ranks fifth in the Western Conference standings.

Larionov is an Olympic champion in 1984 and 1988 as a member of the USSR national team and a bronze medalist at the 2002 Salt Lake City Games. In the USSR Championship, the center forward played for Khimik Voskresensk and CSKA, and in the NHL for such clubs as the Vancouver Canucks, San Jose Sharks, Detroit Red Wings, Florida Panthers and New Jersey Devils. .
