Thursday evening, a majority of the Lancy Municipal Council voted in favor of a ban on commercial through displays in public spaces. In summary, 17 socialist and green elected officials pushed the project, the PLR and part of the MCG abstained while the PDC-vert’liberals group opposed it.
The municipal executive itself was “mostly favorable” to the project, notes Damien Bonfanti, environmental administrative advisor. He explains the reasons for this using a musical parallel: “When people listen to loud music in the street, they can be asked to turn down the volume. If commercial bothers us, we cannot walk around with our eyes closed.”
