Singer Rodrigo Tapari is ready on the other end of the phone. When he answers the call of VOS, is clear that his goal is to make it known that his music will soon arrive, live and direct, to Carlos Paz. He knows that, behind him, an entire team of music workers gathers together to make a project that bears his name grow, but, as he clearly clarifies and emphasizes, it is much more than his individuality as a gifted and sensitive vocalist. .

The former member of Ráfaga, with consolidated fame at a popular level thanks to his television appearances on Marcelo Tinelli’s formats, lives a constant work present, with national and international tours and musical releases that are part of his daily agenda.

Without going any further, he has just released songs with Banda XXI and Ángela Leiva, and in the last few hours he released It was both of our faults.along with the young Gaspar Gigena (former participant of sing with me now). As if all that were not enough, in 2024, his agenda already includes various commitments in Argentina and trips scheduled to Chile, Uruguay and Bolivia for the coming months.

Different formats

In the midst of this work dynamic full time For this artistic SME that Tapari even shares with his family – his wife is his representative – the musician will arrive in Carlos Paz to perform in the middle of the season. He will do it at the Candilejas theater on Tuesday the 23rd and will repeat it on Tuesday the 30th.

“We are a band that tours so much that sometimes it is not there. So you tell me, how do you start in January in the middle of the season in Argentina? And yes, in the same way we go to Europe in the middle of summer there. Thank God we have that audience,” he explains when asked regarding his decision to play in the middle of the summer season and in a city full of entertainment offers.

“Perhaps the people of Argentina who are used to seeing our show know that we are not always in the same place. We don’t normally repeat places and, since we tour so much, that gives us the chance and the opportunity to not always do the same thing and so that people don’t get bored of our show,” he comments when talking regarding his arrival at a theater like the Candilejas.

–Does the fact that it is a room with seats and in a theater format affect you in any way?

–The band has a very dynamic and very fused show. We not only do cumbia, but we also do other genres and it is not a show to be dancing all the time, it is also to appreciate it perhaps more in the musical arrangements, in the staging. It was both of our faults. It is a ballad to be heard, to be felt, so I think that the theater format gives us the possibility of making that type of songs and obviously then having the cumbia that we always do. I think that, beyond that, it gives you the possibility for minors who cannot go to a discotheque or a bowling alley to go, so I think it is a nice possibility for the entire family to go with their young children. We have many little fans and the theater format is closer to the artist as well.

–In relation to your usual shows on the cumbia circuit, what aspects can you delve into in a longer concert in theater format?

–We are very familiar with this format, we do a lot of theater and it is good. I think you can give a show without as many limitations as in a disco, where we do very short shows because we put on several shows per night, which is what is done in cumbia. The theater gives us the possibility of doing a broader show. I go from a cumbia to a bolero or a ranchera. I think that taking advantage of a stage like Candilejas is nice because you can expand much more and do genres that we usually don’t do in a club. That’s good because in a theater there are people who have known you all their lives and there are people who knew you, for example, in my case, now in Marcelo Tinelli’s programs, and who heard me sing other songs, so I take advantage of that format of theater to be able to do those songs too. They are going to find a very dynamic show, very fun, at the same time melancholic. There’s a little bit of everything…

–You mentioned Marcelo Tinelli, do you feel that the television exposure helped you amplify your audience and generate this more familiar atmosphere that you mentioned?

–Totally, don’t forget that nowadays everything is managed through social networks and older people have no idea regarding grabbing a computer or cell phone and getting on Instagram, TikTok or whatever. It is more comfortable for them to turn on the television and tune in to a television channel. So, as far as my career is concerned, Marcelo Tinelli opened up a tremendous range of audiences for me that I didn’t have, which is the audience that doesn’t go out to a bowling alley, a club or stays at home having dinner and sharing a program like Marcelo’s. Today, half of the people who go to see me in a theater are people who have just met me on Marcelo’s program. That’s why I have to take advantage of these types of scenarios to be able to Until you forget me, by Luis Miguel, and the people who met me there go crazy when they hear those types of songs, also performed by a cumbia band that suddenly transformed into an orchestra that does another genre. Maybe the people who go to see us expect to simply find cumbia and suddenly you have a lot of repertoire that is good and that the musicians who accompany me do wonderfully. I feel that television programs, not just Marcelo’s, help and contribute to the career of any artist. Anyone who thinks not is totally wrong. The race is not made by just one, but by the people who choose you. There are people out there who don’t know you and out of nowhere see you for the first time on a television show.
