For an elderly person, a fall often constitutes a break, a turning point. Not only for the physical following-effects it leaves him, which can be serious. But also on a psychological level: from a first fall, the fear of falling once more is born, the person then reduces their physical activity, restricts their social interactions, gradually closing in on themselves. The fall is also, in many cases, the trigger for entry into an establishment, and the end of home care. This is why the State launched in 2022 a “national anti-fall plan for the elderly”, which has just been extended by two years to end in 2026. The ARS, the Gerontology and Innovation Center (PGI ) and Carsat are responsible for deploying it on a regional scale.
Tuesday in Dijon, to take stock following two years, they brought together many stakeholders involved in BFC, medical and social staff, communities, establishments, hospitals, nutritionists, etc.
