Equatorial Guinea achieved a major victory over Guinea Bissau 4-2, at Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan, in the first group competitions of the African Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire.
The Equatorial Guinea national team owes the hat-trick of its captain, striker Emilio Nsou (21, 51, 61) and Jose Miranda (46), while for Guinea Bissau, Equatorial Guinea defender Esteban Obiang scored an own goal (37) and substitute Jose Correa (90 + 3).
Nsou made himself the star of the match thanks to his goals and annoying movements throughout the match, which his team dominated in terms of performance and result. He also led his players to perform a distinctive African dance following scoring his third goal.
In the beginning, the referee canceled the first goal, which came following an amazing pass that penetrated the defense, following which Nsou dribbled past the Bissau goalkeeper before kicking it into the empty goal with his left, but he re-counted it following returning to the video assistant referee, “the mouse.”
Nsou, a player for Inter City in the Spanish third division, was the tournament’s top scorer alone, with three goals.
With this victory, Equatorial Guinea topped the group with 4 points, awaiting the result of the match between Côte d’Ivoire (three points) and Nigeria (one point), which will face off later, while Guinea Bissau remained without a score.
In the third round scheduled for the 22nd of this month, Equatorial Guinea will play with Côte d’Ivoire and Guinea Bissau will play with Nigeria.
