The bodies of three older siblings were found partially burned in their home near Madrid. The dead showed signs of violence and were placed on top of each other, the police said on Thursday upon request. A possible motive for the crime was a kind of settlement or an act of revenge because the three had repeatedly borrowed large amounts from acquaintances and neighbors, said a police spokeswoman.

The dead are two women and a man, all in their 70s. The newspaper “El País” reported, citing neighbors in the small town of Morata de Tajuña, around 40 kilometers southeast of Madrid, that the two women had had an alleged crime for years Afghanistan veterans receive monthly money transfers. To do this, they even sold an apartment in Madrid and repeatedly asked neighbors and acquaintances to lend them amounts of up to 3,000 euros. The two sisters ignored warnings from those around them that it might be a case of love fraud. The police did not initially confirm this information.
