Cuche predicts injury to nephew Rémi
Unlike Szollos, the 23-year-old did not fall, but was unable to continue on the steep slope before the Swiss grabbed his left knee with his face distorted in pain.
Didier Cuche, downhill record winner in Kitzbühel, analyzed his nephew’s ride in the coaching zone. As the Swiss daily newspaper “Blick” reports, the ski legend had to hold back a tear or two following his nephew’s mishap. The spontaneous remote diagnosis of the former world champion was sobering: “It looks like Rémi has torn his cruciate ligament.”
An official diagnosis of the extent of Cuche’s injury is still pending.
