The High Authority for Communication (HAC) has just taken action once more, this Wednesday, January 17, 2024, once morest the information site Depecheguinee.com and its publication director, Abdoul Latif Diallo. It suspends the site for a period of nine months and the journalist for 6 months.

This suspension once morest the journalist comes following complaints from Dr Karamo Kaba, governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Guinea for the publication of an article entitled: “More than a billion dubious dollars from the Guinean regime blocked in Dubai .”

According to the HAC, this article which incriminates the governor of the BCRG does not respect any journalistic principle, because it conveys several untruths which are “easily provable”.

The media regulatory institution also says it has received another complaint for “defamation and disturbance of public order” once morest the journalist from the Minister of Economy and Finance, Moussa Cissé on this date. Wednesday January 17.

The journalist was summoned for a confrontation but he did not deign to respond, according to Hac. After consultation with around ten commissioners of the institution in plenary, Abdoul Latif Diallo is considered “a repeat offender in matters of defamation through the press” and the sanction fell. He is suspended for a period of 6 months and his media for a period of 9 months.

During this period of suspension, the administrator of the Depecheguinee.com site will neither create nor provide its services to a Guinean press organ.

It should be remembered that journalist Latif Diallo and his media were subject to controversial suspension in September 2023 for a similar case.
