After questions from the opposition and the CGT, Martín Menem ratified his intention to accelerate the treatment of the omnibus law in Deputies. “If it has to be Saturday, it will be Saturday”the president of the lower house defined, bluntly, on one of the points of contention in the debate in Congress.
“I think that we are on trackI will do everything possible so that the opinion is signed this week,” said the former candidate for governor of La Rioja, who evaluated what the debate is leaving in the plenary session of the Deputies’ commissions, which this Wednesday brought together representatives of culture, retirees and the fight once morest climate change, in addition to legislators.
“If it has to be Saturday, it will be Saturday. My idea was to go to the venue this Saturday, It seems difficult, but not impossible. It seemed difficult to put together the commissions, we put them together, we had more than 40 hours of commissions, company participation and everyone contributed their part to enrich the project,” Menem took courage, in dialogue with TN.
One of the entities that most resists a meeting on Saturday is the CGT, which is preparing the general strike and mobilization for January 24. From the top they spoke of “obscurantism” due to meetings in a downtown hotel between legislators and representatives of the ruling party and issued a warning for the change of date.
Meanwhile, Menem once once more stressed the urgency to pass the omnibus law as soon as possible. “Argentina is experiencing one of the most important crises of the last 100 years, a phenomenal decline. If we continue to insist with the same recipes we are going to end up with the same results. It is not easy, we must try to have the necessary consensus. We are still improving plus the project we already had. When you take alternatives that other political spaces give you, you do good for Argentina,” he noted.

Finally, he answered the question regarding retirees.
“We are working on a scheme that will surpass Alberto Fernández’s scheme. We want to stop the fall in their purchasing power, we want to destroy the previous formula to have another that benefits them,” said Menem.
