Free Travel on Line 2 of Lima Metro: All You Need To Know

Line 2 of the Lima Metro, considered the first underground train in Peru, began its “White March” on December 21 of the first section between Ate and Santa Anita. The ATU informed the entire public that during these almost 80 days it will not be an important requirement to have the Metro Line 2 card to be able to travel between the five kilometers of Ate and Santa Anita, because it seeks to eliminate the crowds that are created. They form at the ticket offices, also that the community can freely access this service and form part of a modern means of transportation.

Likewise, the entity pointed out that this measure will allow inaccuracies to be avoided and the real demand for the service to be determined. Then there will be the possibility for the so-called “curious users”, those who usually do not use the service, to go through the experience without creating an unrealistic and oversized demand throughout this initial phase.

It is important to mention that until December 30, 2023, more than 92,000 people were able to travel for free on stage 1A of Metro Line 2, according to figures provided by the ATU. The stations that had the most passenger influxes were: Evitamiento (32,388), Mercado Santa Anita (25,339), Óvalo Santa Anita (17,894), Colectora Industrial (9,034) and Hermilio Valdizán (7,910).

HOW DO THE TRAINS ON LINE 2 OF THE LIMA METRO WORK?

The Andina Agency was able to learn that Line 2 of the Lima and Callao Metro will operate without drivers following the end of the “White March” that began last Thursday, December 21 and ends on March 21, 2024.
