The referendum initiated by FPÖ-Waldhäusl was signed by 197,151 people – changes to laws and contracts are necessary

Vienna (OTS) – At today’s meeting of the parliamentary Interior Committee, the referendum “immediately deport asylum seekers”, which was initiated by Gottfried Waldhäusl, Second President of the Lower Austrian state parliament, and signed by 197,151 eligible voters, was negotiated. “People who claim asylum in Austria and become criminals must be immediately deported to their homeland without any ifs or buts. To this end, the federal (constitutional) legislature is called upon to adapt national law and international conventions so that their deportation is possible and can also be carried out,” demanded the FPÖ spokesman for the public service NAbg today. Werner Herbert and the liberal National Council member Phillip Schrangl.

“Asylum seekers who have become criminals should therefore not be held in Austrian prisons, but must serve their sentences in their respective home countries. It cannot be the case that asylum seekers can further endanger the cohesion of the country because they are given more right to security than our population. “In addition, the vast majority of the Austrian population also wants these asylum seekers to be deported,” emphasized Herbert.

“Changes in laws and contracts are absolutely necessary because they are simply no longer up to date,” explained Schrangl, who criticized the fact that the ÖVP constantly announces changes but then does not implement any of these promises. “Many people are simply very disappointed with the ÖVP. In reality, the ÖVP protects criminal asylum seekers and clearly nothing else can be expected from the Greens anyway,” Herbert added.

“We libertarians have already pointed out this problem in the asylum area several times and have submitted countless applications to parliament, but these have always been stubbornly ignored by the government factions. Even the vetoes, which were initially always grandly announced by the ÖVP, ultimately always turned into a glorious approval of all EU regulations on asylum and immigration that were negative for Austria,” criticized the two liberal MPs.
